What Is an Interactive Installation?
An interactive installation is a physical exhibit that responds to touch, movement, voice or objects, using sensors, screens and software. Examples include tangible tables, sensor floors, kinetic sculptures and AR. A 2023 study at a UK zoo, published in the journal Zoo Biology, compared interactive interpretation with standard text and graphics. Nearly four times as many visitors stopped at the interactive version, and they stayed more than six times as long.
